Breath in Positive and Exhale doubt
Having a positive attitude in the event industry is more important today than ever. With a positive attitude, you see the bright side of life, become optimistic, and expect the best to happen. It is certainly a state of mind that is well worth developing. Dealing with adversity can be a good thing. It’s where we can pivot and come up with new ideas, new ways of doing things, and new businesses.
The temporary future for events is outdoors.
The Dropkick Murphy's played "Streaming Outta Fenway," a live concert at an empty baseball stadium with special guest Bruce Springsteen om May 29th. They raised $700,000 for Boston Charities. Why can’t we move conferences, conventions, and meetings outdoors too? Until we get really get a handle on COVID, the future of meetings is outdoors.
During the whole lockdown, MAC Production Group went thru The Emotional Cycle of Change. 5 stages you move thru during change.
- Uninformed Optimism: We thought this was a temporary (short) shut down and some events were cancelled and rescheduled for the summer months. Pivoting and making MAC’s virtual meeting services more turnkey for our clients.
- Informed Pessimism: Quickly like a wild-fire spreading thru dry grass all events got cancelled and your heads started to spin about our out-going expenses and our employees. Being overwhelmed with the PPE loan paperwork…
- Valley of Despair: Watching the news and looking for answers. No one had any answers just negative and depression.
- Informed Optimism: The event industry may be down but it is not out! I have been read articles and blogs about event planners rethinking and using drive-in theatres for future events. Tents and airplane hangers are also great alternatives to help this industry move forward. We see the light at the end of the tunnel and things are going back to normal.
- Success & Fulfillment: This one, we haven’t all gotten to yet but at MAC Production Group we are excited about and making changes to be ready for this stage.
Talking with some of our clients they all are saying the same thing… a live event is a fundamental part of business. Behind the meeting or conference is the gathering, touching, exploring, learning, and playing isn’t going anywhere soon—and neither is the live events industry.
